About This Place

Union Square Pizza & Kitchen is a standout destination in the heart of San Francisco, expertly blending the warmth of a traditional Italian pizzeria with an inviting deli, espresso bar, and casual dining experience. Located at 284 O'Farrell St, this multifaceted eatery offers much more than your typical slice, delivering a flavorful journey through classic and inventive Italian-inspired dishes.

The restaurant’s core shines brightly through its exceptional pizza offerings, which locals and visitors alike rave about. Whether you’re savoring a 12" Combo Pizza loaded with pepperoni, andouille sausage, bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, and black olives bubbling under a blanket of mozzarella and rich red sauce, or indulging in the luscious simplicity of a Cheese Slice, Union Square Pizza & Kitchen turns every bite into a celebration of fresh, carefully curated ingredients. The Hawaiian Pizza—with its fresh-cut pineapple and gently diced ham—strikes a delightful balance of sweet and savory that’s as comforting as it is surprising.

The crust consistently draws praise for its perfect texture: crispy on the outside yet tender and airy inside, creating an irresistible base that harmonizes with the vibrant toppings. The house-made sauce bursts with bright, tangy notes that elevate each bite, while the cheese melts with luscious creaminess. Every slice feels like a crafted experience, designed to satisfy even the most discerning pizza lover.

Beyond pizza, the menu’s variety caters wonderfully to all cravings. From fresh, crisp salads to hearty sandwiches, to an espresso bar delivering rich, aromatic coffee and Italian sodas like the tangy Sanpellegrino Aranciata Rossa, there’s a refreshing complement to every meal. Their dessert selections and deli sandwiches further round out a well-curated offering that invites leisurely lunches or quick, satisfying bites on the go.

The ambiance at Union Square Pizza & Kitchen mirrors its culinary finesse—a casual yet lively dining area equipped with both tall counters and bar stools as well as comfortable standard-height seating. It’s a perfect spot for solo diners craving a quick slice, friends catching up over great food, or anyone looking to soak in an energetic downtown vibe. The staff are notably friendly and accommodating, going the extra mile to fulfill special requests with genuine warmth and professionalism, as one delighted customer shared about their custom cheese-ordering experience.

While prices reflect the premium quality and prime San Francisco location—expect to spend around $30 for a 12" pizza—the experience justifies every cent with impeccable flavors, attentive service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Union Square Pizza & Kitchen has quickly earned a reputation as a must-visit for pizza aficionados and Italian cuisine lovers searching for both quality and authenticity in the bustling city core.

Whether you’re craving a classic Margherita pesto slice with fresh vegetables and an incredible crust, a hearty and satisfying combo pie, or simply seeking a cozy downtown spot to enjoy a cold Peroni or crisp San Pellegrino soda alongside your meal, Union Square Pizza & Kitchen promises a vibrant, flavorful, and memorable dining experience that will keep you coming back.

On my first visit, Ramy and crew were quite accommodating to my special request for cheese on only one side of the Backyard BBQ pie. Fun dining area with a couple of tall counters and bar stools as well as standard height tables and chairs. Everything we ordered was yummy. I will be back soon!

Very good pizza. Some of the best, actually. Excellent sauce flavor, and high quality ingredients. Expensive for what you get, but this is downtown San fransisco. Friendly and helpful staff both on the phone and in person, which is unexpected of a large city restaurant/pizza shop. Would recommend if you dont mind spending ~$30 for a medium pizza.

We got a New Englander pizza. They sell full pizzas and by the slice. Speedy service, greasy & delicious pie.

Pizza was quite good. However we ended up paying around 50$ which I thought Is insanely pricey for 1 pizza (shared between both of us). The apple juice was top notch. I wonder if apples from California because fruit here seems to be top spec.

Was craving a slice of pizza and needed something close to where I was staying. Wow what a find! I got the margarita pesto and it was exceptional. Vegetables fresh, crust amazing and tasted delicious.

Best pizza in San Francisco! Union Square Pizza & Kitchen was fantastic from start to finish. Ramy provided great service—friendly, fast, and made the experience even better. The New Englander pizza with hot honey was outstanding, with the perfect balance of crispy crust, savory flavor, and a touch of heat. The Chicken Bacon Ranch (CBR) was rich and satisfying, and our custom garlic pesto pizza did not disappoint. They had baklava which we had to give it a try and it was excellent and the perfect sweet finish. If you’re looking for the best pizza in San Francisco, especially near Union Square, this place is a must-try. We’ll definitely be back!

While everyone's experience is different and so is mine. I am expressing what I experienced. We came the night before and were walking across to the Hilton for an event Saturday morning. While checking out Hilton by walking came across this spot and timing said open till late. So we stopped by after rounding up Union Square and picking up dessert from Cheesecake Factory. Pizza to go was our plan for dinner. Ordered a margherita pizza to go with extra onions and garlic and was delivered in 10 minutes while we waited in their seated and eating away on our dessert. The pizza looked great and tasted even better when we had it in a few minutes after we reached our hotel. The place is clean and tidy with restroom access but we didn't use it . Cost wise was nominal for Union Square area . Will definitely come again for their delicious pizza.
